Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of electric bulb, said this in early 1900’s:
"I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that."
Can you guess in what year he could have said this?
This is how roof top solar panels work!
Have you used Solar calculators before? Solar calculators do not have batteries. Instead, they have solar cells which convert ambient light into electricity, which runs the calculator. Similarly, solar panels have solar cells. When sun light hits those cells, electricity is generated. This video explains this phenomenon in detail:
No other investments offer such a
guaranteed return as Solar does!
makes a lot of sense now.
If I have solar panels, can I say good-bye to my power company? The answer is No…!
Can I pull electricity from solar panels when local grid power is down (black-out time)? The answer is Yes and No. Click here to find details of both answers!
Let the roof generate your own electricity!
Metal Roof Solar Panel
This residential metal roof has thin metal sheathing attached to plywood decking. Instead of composite shingles on plywood decking, metal sheathing is used. Metal sheathing has longer life than shingles. But its standing seam cannot be used to attached rails or 'L' feet to support solar panels. In this installation J-Bolts with rubber seals were used to penetrate plywood decking and anchor to joists supporting decking!
